Profile partnerships: the cheapest way to grow

Partnership is the only growth path that costs just work. And it works because the audience is already primed: someone who trusts your partner arrives predisposed to trust you.

Choosing a partner

Three criteria:

• Similar audience, different product: not competing is what makes the swap possible.
• Similar size: swaps between very differently sized profiles rarely hold.
• Real engagement: partnering with a large, idle profile brings nothing.

Formats that work

1. Collaborative post: appears on both profiles and reaches both audiences.
2. Joint live: strong for relationship building and answering questions.
3. Story swap: the simplest to arrange.
4. Serial content: each posts one part, continuing on the other profile.
5. Joint giveaway: brings volume, but attracts giveaway hunters — use carefully.

How to propose

A short, specific message with the proposal ready. A vague proposal goes unanswered.

"Want to collaborate?" almost never gets a reply. "Up for a live on Tuesday at 8pm about X? I'll promote it in my stories all week" is a proposal.

Give first

Promoting the partner before asking greatly increases acceptance. It is easier to say yes to someone who already demonstrated what they are offering.

Agree in advance

• Date and time.
• What each side posts.
• How the call to action will work.
• Whether there will be joint material.

A written agreement prevents most mix-ups.

Measure the result

Note followers before and after, and profile visits that day. Repeat with whoever brought results — recurring partnerships pay more than one-offs.
