Visual identity: how to make a profile look professional

Visual identity is not a perfect grid. It is recognition: someone sees your content while scrolling and knows it is yours before reading the name.
The minimum that works
- Two main colours and one accent.
- One font for headings and one for body text.
- A fixed way of making video covers.
- Highlight covers that match each other.
That already creates recognition. Nothing beyond it is necessary at the start.
Choose your colours
A dark one for background, a light one for text and a vivid one for accent. If you already have a logo, take the colours from it. Avoid more than three — beyond that it tires the eye and slows production.
Legible beats beautiful
Text on video is read on a small screen, in motion, often without sound. A thick sans-serif font with high contrast is the safe choice.
If the text is not readable at arm's length, it does not exist.
Cover pattern
Same place for the title, same background colour, same image treatment. The pattern is what makes a profile look organised when someone opens the grid.
Profile photo and highlights
A photo readable at small size. Highlight covers in the same style — either all icons or all words, never mixed.
What is not worth the effort
- A mosaic grid that breaks when you post out of order.
- A heavy filter that distorts the product's real colour.
- Design that takes more time than the content.
Consistency beats polish
A simple pattern repeated across a hundred posts creates more recognition than ten beautiful posts and a hundred improvised ones.
Summary
Three colours, two fonts, one cover pattern and matching highlights. Simple enough to keep up daily — it is the upkeep that builds identity, not the sophistication.
